To ensure every child in Jefferson County has the opportunity to be vaccinated before the new school year, we will be scheduling extra appointments for Back-to-School Shots on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 21 through August 15, 2019.
Students entering 7th and 12th grade in West Virginia must have Tdap and meningococcal vaccines before school starts on August 19. West Virginia only allows medical exemptions to immunizations, so if your child doesn’t get the required shots in time they won’t be allowed to attend school until they catch up!
We will not be able to have walk-in clinics this year, so please make an appointment as soon as possible. Before scheduling you will need to send a copy of your child’s shot record and insurance information to JeffersonLHD@wv.gov or fax to 304-728-3319. Uninsured patients 18 and under are covered by the low-cost Vaccines for Children Program.
