As of March 26, 2020 there are 4 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County, and 76 total confirmed cases in West Virginia.
 
Our clinical staff, with assistance from school nurse volunteers, continue daily active monitoring of any Jefferson County residents who have tested positive and their close contacts. They are also monitoring symptoms of travelers who have returned from high-risk areas.
 
Our environmental staff have been contacting or visiting local restaurants, daycares, and other permitted establishments to ensure they understand and are complying with social distancing and other protective measures. They are continuing to provide essential public health services.
 
Our threat preparedness staff received and distributed personal protective equipment to local healthcare facilities that were critically low on supplies. They also provided guidance from the CDC on optimizing PPE supply during emergencies.
 
All Jefferson County Health Department employees are dedicated to protecting the health of everyone in our community. We understand that closing non-essential businesses and staying at home as much as possible is an enormous burden — emotionally, physically, financially, and more.
