As required by §64-51-9 of the Bureau for Public Health Legislative Rule, Health Departments are required to advertise to make the public aware and receive public comment regarding proposed fees for its services.

The Jefferson County Health Department is proposing the adoption of a new fee of $15.00 to fund the Food Handler’s class provided at the Health Department twice a month. Food Handler training is a pre-requisite to obtaining a Food Handler’s card. Classes can be taken online or in-person at the health department. After comparing the cost of several online food handler’s courses ranging from $10 to $28, we are proposing a $15.00 fee for our in-person training.
